In May 2023, the West Bengal Madrasah Service Commission (WBMSC) issued a significant notification on its official website regarding the 7th State Level Selection Test (SLST). The announcement primarily focuses on the recruitment of Assistant Teachers for classes 9th-10th and 11th-12th, along with the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for non-government and Aided Madrasahs in West Bengal.

Before the June 12, 2023 deadline, a substantial number of eligible local candidates submitted their applications for the Assistant Teacher positions.

WBMSC TET Paper Pattern

Understanding the Exam Pattern Before appearing for the written test, candidates must be familiar with the SLST exam pattern. Success in this selection test requires thorough preparation. Here, we provide an overview of the paper pattern and marking scheme:

TET Exam Pattern:

  • The TET exam will be conducted for a total of 150 marks.
  • Each TET and main exam question carries one mark and includes four options.
  • It’s important to note that there will be negative marking; for every two wrong answers, one mark will be deducted.

Subjects and Marks Breakdown:

  • Child Development and Pedagogy: 30 marks
  • Language-I: 30 marks
  • Language-II: 30 marks
  • Arabic / Advance Arabic Theology: 60 marks
  • Total: 150 marks

Main Examination Candidates who pass the TET exam will proceed to the main examination, which will also be conducted in offline mode using OMR sheets. This part of the exam consists of multiple-choice questions and is worth 90 marks.

Selection Process The selection process for Assistant Teachers consists of several stages:

  1. TET Exam: The initial stage is the TET exam.
  2. Main Examination: Candidates who clear the TET will be invited to participate in the main examination.
  3. Merit List: The merit list will be prepared based on the scores from the main exam.
  4. Interview Test: In the final stage, the selection agency will conduct an interview test, inviting approximately 1.5 times the total number of vacancies for this phase.
