Several complaints have surfaced regarding the question paper of the secondary examination in the state. Sometimes the debate started on non-syllabus questions and sometimes on specific questions. There was a big uproar over ‘Azad Kashmir’ in this year’s secondary question paper. Again, the examinees suffered from doubts about the question paper of the numerical test. Board of Secondary Education has taken action due to repeated complaints. To avoid controversial and extra-syllabus questions in Madhyamik, new textbooks are being prepared for classes 9-10.

According to sources, the textbooks have been revised without any change in the syllabus. To avoid controversial questions, the Board has placed five subjects in current private publication book review. All non-syllabus questions are excluded from scrutiny. Reviews of Bengali grammar, history, geography, physical science and life science books have been started. Meanwhile, according to the board, 50 publishing houses have sent their books for review. A total of 244 books have arrived. Books on various subjects are being reviewed by experts in the respective subjects.

According to the Board of Secondary Education, controversial questions will be removed from the books as well as important questions will be added if there is no syllabus. Class IX-X books are no longer reviewed since 2017. Therefore, the board officials have accepted the importance of paying attention to the concerned side. According to board sources, students will be able to sit in Madhyamik in 2025 after reading the revised books. At present the work is going on with great activity.
